MINISTER TO PRESENT THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SENEGAL ADDRESS OPENING OF THE CONFERENCE WEST & CENTRAL AFRICA COM DAKAR ON JUNE 15

Guirassy Moustapha, Senegalese Minister of Communication, Telecommunication and Information Technologies, which also serves as spokesperson of the Government of Senegal, confirmed this week that he will present the opening address Conference West & Central Africa Com to be held in Dakar in June


The event is an annual meeting platform for all stakeholders in the telecommunications ecosystem in the region, which encompasses most countries of Sub-Saharan Francophone Africa in addition to several important markets such as Nigeria and Ghana.


The program includes participation from leading major operators in the region, to mention in particular the speeches will Tiemoko Coulibaly, CEO of Airtel for francophone Africa and Bernard Ghillebaert, Regional Director of West Africa and Asia, Orange Group.


Moustapha Guirassy begin the first day of the conference with a formal speech of welcome will be followed by a presentation of the strategy of Senegal on telecommunications and ICT technologies.


Mr Guirassy served as Minister of Communication and Spokesman of the Senegalese government since 2009.


Telecommunications and ICT have been added to his charges in June 2010. In this position, Guirassy led the adoption of the New Code of Telecommunications, which is a major reform of the telecommunications sector in Senegal.


This code is part of the process of harmonization of the regulatory framework for telecommunications in West Africa and whose goal is to foster a more competitive and dynamic.


The reform offers in particular an independent status to the regulatory agency of the Post and Telecommunications ARPT Senegal, which is consistent with international best practices for regulators.
