While stands the debate on the revision of the Bioethics Law, the pre-implantation genetic diagnosis has allowed for this family whose two eldest children are suffering from a serious genetic disease and debilitating (beta-thalassemia), to obtain the birth of a healthy child who a compatible tissue type (HLA). His cord blood has been kept to be grafted in the near future to one of the older patient.
Umut-Talha in Turkish means "our hope" male child weighing 3 650 g, was born January 26, 2011 at the hospital Béclère Antoine (AP-HP). It is now very good health.
